Pioneers lose heart breaker to Louisburg

SPARTANBURG, SC., Louisburg College spoiled the Pioneers home opener and Head Coach Dan Kenneally's 20th year celebration on Saturday afternoon by taking the region match 2-1. SMC dominated the contest but could only finish one of their 33 shots. SMC outshot Louisburg 33-10 (17-2 in the first half). 

Louisburg tied the match at 1-1 with a goal in the 75th minute and the game winner in the 87th minute, both goals were scored on set pieces. 

Sophomore Lexi Garcia (Greenville, SC / Wade Hampton High) scored SMC's only goal in the 65th minute on an assist from Heather Blaszak (Goose Creek, SC / Stratford High). 

The Lady Pioneers(0-3, 0-1) will return to action on Wednesday at 3:00pm as they host USC Lancaster in a Region X match.
