
SMC Duo Sweeps CAC Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week Honors
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A sprinter and a javelin thrower from Spartanburg Methodist College have swept the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week honors for their performances at the recent Montreat Open.
Sophomore Sophia Outhous earned the Track Athlete of the Week honor, while sophomore Anna Altman garnered the Field Athlete of the Week award.
Outhous won the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.33) with the 12th-fastest time in the NAIA. The Irmo, South Carolina, native was also a member of the fifth-place 4x800-meter relay team, which recorded the third-fastest time in program history. Additionally, she competed in the mixed 4x400-meter relay team that set a school record.
Altman recorded her second-best throw of the season with a javelin mark of 17.66 meters, placing 11th in the event. This honor marks her second weekly award of the season.
