
Two New School Records Set by SMC Women's Track and Field at John Hunter-Smith Invite
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College women's track and field team set two new school records and multiple personal bests at the John Hunter-Smith Invite, hosted by Columbia International University.
The Pioneers were led by freshman Da'Sani Kinlaw, who set a new school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.27, shattering the previous best of 19.2. The St. Stephens, S.C., native also clocked a time of 28.62 in the 200m dash, marking the ninth-fastest time in program history.
Another school record was set by Anna Altman, who broke her own mark in the javelin with a toss of 61-8 (18.80m), surpassing her previous best of 57-5 (17.51m), which she had set just one week earlier.
Sophia Outhous set a personal best with a third-place finish in the 1500m, recording the second-fastest time in program history at 5:03.65. She also led a trio of Pioneers in the 400m hurdles, winning the event with a time of 1:07.72. Teammate Polly Addington finished sixth with a personal best of 1:12.35, followed by Kinlaw in 1:14.
Nsimire Bahongwehre and Bella Shields each set personal records in the 800m, with times of 2:45.45 and 2:57.78, respectively. Shields also recorded a second PR in the 400m, finishing in 1:10.74—a four-second personal best.
The Pioneers' 4x400m relay team, consisting of Tieranny Jeter, Sophia Outhous, Polly Addington, and Nsimire Bahongwehre, recorded the fifth-fastest time in program history, finishing in fifth place with a time of 4:28.78.
