
SMC Falls to Bryan, 14-2
Bryan, Tenn. – An eight-run first inning propelled host Bryan to a 14-2 win over the Spartanburg Methodist College baseball team on Wednesday afternoon.
SMC (15-22) was limited to three hits—Leo Lopez, Jarian Pinckney, and Thatcher Baughman—in the loss.
Bryan (19-14) had four players—Caleb Ramsey, Dante Morton, Chris Hall, and Cade Cook—each recording two hits. Hall also had four RBIs, while Morton scored three runs to lead the Lions to victory. Starting pitcher Ben Zyburt earned the win, going six innings, striking out four, and allowing two hits.
Down 9-0 in the third inning, a Matt Smith sacrifice fly plated the first run of the day for the Pioneers. Bryan responded with five more runs before SMC got back on the scoreboard.
SMC's second run came in the seventh inning on a solo home run by Leo Lopez.
The two teams will face each other again on Monday, April 7, at Mooneyham Field at 1 p.m.
