Women's Soccer Continue a Strong Start to the Season

The SMC Pioneers Women's Soccer team traveled to Richard Bland College for a Region 10 showdown with the Statesmen on 9.3.

Both teams went back and forth with a few chances early in the game. The Pioneers struck first at 22:00 and never looked back. Alanna Hilton scored far post from a Beyonce Williams pass on top of the 18-yard box. Gwen Orr made an unbelievable 1-on-1 save with an RBC forward to keep it 1-0. Caitlin Lagos would score a goal in the top corner from 25 yards out in the 26th minute. The assist went to Addison Crump and Williams. The Pioneers would get 2 goals before half from Beyonce to make it 4-0 at halftime. Assists went to Kayla Freeman(2), Lagos, and Hilton.

Two minutes into the second half, Williams would put home a Myleigh Shaw pass to get the hat trick to put the game at 5-0. Orr was relieved at the 75th minute by Abby Fisher. They finished with 5 and 2 saves respectfully. The game would end at 5-0.

The SMC Women's Soccer team moves to 3-0 and 2-0 in Region 10 play. Next up will be a rematch at home with RBC on 9.8 at 3:00 pm.
