Bulldogs Came for Revenge on the Pioneers
Georgia Military College traveled to Spartanburg Methodist College for a rematch of the first game of the season. The Bulldogs of GMC came for some revenge. GMC didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard in the third minute after the Pioneer defense could not clear the soccer ball out of their goalbox. SMC looked to get the goal back but the Bulldog goalkeeper was solid in goal all night. The Bulldogs doubled the score in the 30th minute on a 20-yard shot over Gwen Orr's outstretched arms. The Pioneers outshot GMC 15 to 8 in the first half. Abby Fisher relieved Gwen in goal for the second half. GMC stretched the lead 5 minutes into the second half to 3-0. SMC continued to put shot after shot at the GMC goalkeeper. Kaylee Damsen would finally a ball past the GMC goalkeeper at 82:19. The goal would give a little life to the Pioneers. Kaylee would get a second goal 4 minutes later to pull within one. The Bulldogs would take the final bite out of the Pioneers with the fourth goal of the game at 88:18. Gwen and Abby would finish with 4 and 2 saves.
The Pioneers record goes 5-1 and 2-0 in Region 10 play. SMC travels to Oxford Emory on 9.15 and USC Salkehatchie on 9.17.
