Women's Soccer Beat The Fire Ants 16-0
The Lady Pioneers hosted USC Sumter on 8.31 for their home opener and the start of Region 10 play.
The scoring got started in the first minute when a Sumter defender put the ball in her own goal off a Beyonce Williams cross. Two more goals were scored before the ten-minute mark in the game, both by Williams, assisted by Sydney Fletcher. The goals were plentiful in the first half. Mattie Monnet and Shiloh Worth got their first goal of the season with assists going to Alanna Hilton, Reagan Lowe, and Sydney Arellano. Hilton made it 6-0 as she dribbled around a few Fire Ant defenders to put it past the keeper. Williams and Fletcher finished out the half with a total of 3 goals each. Other assists went to Shiloh Worth, Genevieve Cox (2), Daria Regan, Caitlin Lagos, Laura Giraldo and Kayla Freeman(2). The first half ended at 10-0. The second half saw much of the same with 6 more goals coming from 6 different players. Goals were by Jordan Golden, Reagan Lowe, Lagos, Harleigh Payne, Addison Crump, and Giraldo. Assists by Kayla Freeman (2), and Regan(2).
The Pioneers are 2-0 and 1-0 in Region 10 play. Next up, SMC travels to Richard Bland College at 4:00 pm on 9/3.
