SMC Men's Track and Field Open 2024-25 Season
WINSTON SALEM, N.C. - The NAIA era for the Spartanburg Methodist College men's and women's track and field teams began with the JDL Early Bird on Sunday.
The Pioneers made its debut with entrants in a variety of events against competition at all the various levels.
Andre Kelly III was sixth in the 1000m dash (2:50.54), followed by an eighth-place finish by Calvin Kowalke (3:20.17). The performance by Kelly is the second fastest indoor performance in program history.
Parker Balog was the top finisher for SMC in the 60m dash (7.29) and 200m dash (54.49). Caleb Williams was eighth overall in the 800m dash with a time of 2:06.51 to lead five Pioneers. Wilson McClinton finished in 2:15.33, followed by Marc Mixtega in 2:23.87, John Jones in 2:31.62 and Roman Inglis in 2:38.64.
Also in the 60m, Jared Chinloy and Javion Brannon posted times of 7.33 and 7.34, respectively. John Wilkins posted a time of 24.97 in the 200m dash.
The Pioneers' 4x400m relay team of Wilkins, Kelly III, McClinton and Chinloy was ninth in 3:49.05. The performance is the fourth-fastest relay in program history.
