
SMC Men's Track and Field Set 15 PRs at Tornado Classic
BREVARD, N.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College men's track and field team set 15 personal records (PRs) at the Tornado Open, hosted by Brevard College on Friday.
Romeo Brown continues to enjoy a successful sophomore campaign, leading the Pioneers. The sprinter won the 100m dash (10.61) and placed fourth in the 200m dash (21.77). His 100m time ranks 16th fastest in the NAIA, while his 200m time is 29th fastest in the NAIA.
Teammate Javion Brannon also set a PR in the 100m (8th place, 11.18) and in the 200m (14th place, 22.99). The third sprinter to achieve a PR was Jared Chinloy, who finished the 200m with a time of 23.40.
Two more Pioneers set PRs: Vincent Littlejohn in the 400m (17th place, 1:00.06) and Parker Balog in the 400m hurdles (3rd place, 59.02). Balog's performance shattered the school record of 1:01.87.
Andre Kelly III and Ryan Hunter each set a PR in the 800m, finishing in 2:05.61 and 2:09.56, respectively.
Four Pioneers set PRs in the 1500m run: Caleb Williams (4:24.97), Ryan Hunter (4:25.23), Dylan Seppala (4:37.54) and Omarion Ocampo-Rios (4:57.51).
The sprinting corps played a key role in achieving season-best marks in the 4x100m relay and 4x800m relay. The 4x100m relay team of Brannon, Chinloy, Balog, and Brown placed second with a school record time of 42.26, which ranks 36th fastest in the NAIA.
The 4x800m relay team of Kelly III, Williams, Seppala, and Luke Kochanowicz posted a time of 8:43.38, securing a runner-up finish.
Javion Brannon improved on his season best in the long jump with a leap of 20-1.
