The Reid Walling era for Spartanburg Methodist College women's basketball started with an 84-57 loss to Reinhardt on Saturday afternoon.
Spartanburg Methodist (0-1) was paced by a 14-point game from Najah Gilliam, who made a pair of 3-pointers in the loss.
Reinhardt (1-0) made 45.6% of their field goals, while holding SMC to just 30.2%. The
Eagles were led by Noelle Lavery, who had a game-high 21 points. She was joined in double digits by Julia Craft and I'ziah McCutchins, who had 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The visitors regained the lead in the first quarter when McCutchins made a 3-pointer as the Eagles led for the rest of the contest. Midway through the second quarter, SMC made it a one-point game, 26-25, when Krystal Johnson made one of two free throws with 6:25 left in the first 20 minutes.
Next, SMC will host St. Andrews on Monday, Oct. 28 at 5:30 p.m.
