Knoxville, Tenn. – Three members of the Spartanburg Methodist College women's basketball team scored in double figures as the Pioneers lost to Tennessee Wesleyan, 66-56 on Tuesday
Destiny Middleton and MIa Hansen each scored 13 and Krystal Johnson poured in 12 in the loss for SMC, who falls to 3-10 on the 2024-25 season.
Tennessee Wesleyan was led by Anna Crowder and Jacelyn Stone, who had 23 and 22 points, respectively in the win as the Bulldogs raise their record to 6-5 on the season.
TWU scored the first six points of the game for an early lead. The Bulldogs would take a lead as large as seven on a pair of occasions. Later in the contest, SMC would take its first lead when Zy Bell hit a jumper with 2:37 left in the third quarter for a 45-43 lead. TWU came back with four-straight to take a lead for the remainder of the contest.
Next, SMC will host Carolina University on Tuesday, January 7 at 5 p.m. in Bridges Arena.
