#21 Pioneers take on #12 SW Tennessee in NJCAA National Tournament
HUTCHINSON, KS., Spartanburg Methodist College Men's Basketball team will begin play in the NJCAA Men's National Basketball Championship Tournament today at 5:30pm in Hutchinson, Kansas. The #21 seed Pioneers will square off against #12 seed Southwest Tennessee Community College in the first round. You can watch the Pioneers (26-6) live on on NJCAA TV. Game Notes:- Southwest Tennessee (28-4) won the Region 7 Tournament to advance in the National Tournament. The Saluquis are led by tournament MVP 6'6 forward David Burrell (15.3ppg and 6.4rpg) and 6'8 forward Jimario Rivers (13ppg and 7.2rpg). The Saluquis averaged 84.4 points per game during their season. SMC averaged 84.8 points a game.
SMC and SW Tennessee had three common opponents during the season with the same results in the five games. SMC lost to North West Florida State 87-79 while SW lost by 30 points, 88-58. Both teams defeated Roane State twice, SMC won their two games 70-61 and 85-39 while SW won their two games 69-64 and 86-70. The Pioneers split with Walters State CC winning 72-68 and losing 81-77. The Saliquis lost 104-103 in overtime and won 89-51 to WSCC.
