GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College men's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to host Bob Jones University on Saturday night.
The Pioneers (3-7-1) had 16 shots in the loss with Michael Torres, Will Waters and Jose Pacheco recording three apiece.
The Bruins (8-2-1) had five-different goal scorers in the win, plus goalkeeper Cameron Braswell had six saves for the shutout.
Down 2-0 in the first half, SMC nearly had a chance to get on the scoreboard when shots by Waters and Clayton Dufur were saved in the 44th and 45th minute. The attack had four opportunities that were saved by the Bruins keeper in the final 45 minutes to preserve the shutout.
Next, SMC will have a stretch of four matches in the next seven days. The first of the four will be a contest against Carolina (N.C.) on Tuesday, October 15 in Winston Salem at 7 p.m.
