Advance, N.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College men's soccer team lost by a 4-1 margin to host No. 3 (in NCCAA) Carolina University on Tuesday.
Spartanburg Methodist College (3-8-1) gave up a pair of goals to the Bruins in each half before breaking into the scoring ledger when Rodrigo Pinheiro scored in the closing seconds.
Carolina University (8-0-1) had four-different goal scorers as the Bruins took advantage of 12-2 advantage in shots.
Ronnie Mendez nearly had a goal in the 56th minute that was scooped up by CU goalkeeper Joshua Wilson.
Next, SMC will host Johnson & Wales (N.C.) on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The Pioneers maintain a 2-0-1 mark at the friendly confines of the Nash Soccer Field. After that they will travel to Takoma Park, Maryland for a pair of Continental Athletic Conference matchups where they will face Washington Adventist on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 9:15 p.m. and Fisher on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 8 p.m.
