Garrett Loehr Named Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Spartanburg Methodist
Spartanburg, S.C. - Spartanburg Methodist Head Men's Soccer Coach Doug Smith has announced the hiring of Garrett Loehr as the new Assistant Men's Soccer Coach.
"I am looking forward to being a part of the SMC community, competing with the staff for championships, helping the school transition successfully into NAIA, and helping get the players to graduation day," said Loehr.
"We're excited to welcome Garrett to our program. With his extensive experience in top programs across the country, his knowledge is invaluable," said Smith. "We look forward to having him join us as we transition into the NAIA."
Loehr comes to SMC after serving as an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach for NCAA Division I Western Michigan. With the Broncos, Loehr and WMU reached the NCAA Round of 16 as well as regular season and tournament titles in the Missouri Valley Conference. He was instrumental in the tutelage of goalkeeper Ethan Brandt, who earned MVC Goalkeeper of the Year honors as well as being selected No. 46 in the MLS SuperDraft to the LA Galaxy. Loehr and the coaching staff were selected as the MVC Coaching Staff of the Year and the United Soccer Coaches West Region Staff of the Year.
He has also gained valuable experience at NCAA Division II, Minot State, St. Teresa's Academy in Missouri and Regis Jesuit High School in Colorado. In the Upstate area, Loehr is involved in goalkeeper coaching with the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy and on the USL 1 side as an assistant goalkeeper coach with the Greenville Triumph.
Loehr resides in Spartanburg with his wife, Carlee and daughter, Camille.
