
Michaelangelo Dovidio Named Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Spartanburg Methodist
Spartanburg, S.C. - Spartanburg Methodist Head Men's Soccer Coach Doug Smith has announced the hiring of Michelangelo Dovidio as the new Assistant Men's Soccer Coach.
Dovidio made his return to Upstate ahead of the 2020-21 season to begin his coaching career after spending some time overseas in Italy obtaining his master’s in sports management at the Soccer Management Institute, as well as his first-level Coerver Coaching license.
Prior to his time overseas, Dovidio briefly coached a youth soccer team at Carolina Elite Soccer Academy.
The former Spartan midfielder helped lead Upstate to its first-ever ASUN Tournament Championship in 2015 by scoring the game-winning goal against Florida Gulf Coast in the tournament semifinals. He recorded 50 starts in 56 total appearances across his Upstate career and scored four goals with two assists as an integral part of the Spartans midfield. He also served as Team Captain his senior year and received the leadership award for outstanding dedication and leadership.
Dovidio graduated from USC Upstate in December 2018 with a degree in business administration.
