
Spartanburg Methodist College Men's Golf Wraps Up Play at Bruins Golf Classic
ANDERSON, S.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College men's golf team took home fourth-place honors on Tuesday at the season opening Bruins Golf Classic at Cobb's Glen Country Club hosted by Bob Jones University in Anderson, South Carolina
Cumberlands took home the team title after posting a team score of 598 (303-295) for a nine-stroke victory in the ten-team field. The Pioneers, who brought two teams to the tournament, were led by its "A" squad who shot a 636 (318-318), followed by its "B" squad, who shot a total of 682 (332-350).
The top individual performer for SMC was Lane Carr as the field overcame rainy conditions for the last two days with a 149 (+5, 75-74). Eli Fischer of Cumberlands made a five-spot climb in Tuesday's final round for a share of the individual title with a 147 (+76-71) along with Colby Johnson of Roane State Community College. Carr, who moved up two spots in the final round, shared third with Deacon Bauershlag and Eli KInlaw of North Greenville and Pedro Morgado of Cumberlands.
Carr was joined in the top 10 by sophomore teammate Parker Harrigan, who was 10th with a 155 (+11, 80-75). Harrigan moved up 13 spots in Tuesday's final round. Teammates AJ Bolin and Andrew Walker finished 32nd with a +22. For Bolin, he shot rounds of 81 and 85 and Walker posted scores of 82 and 84. Tucker Simon posted a 170 (+26, 85-85) to round out the "A" Team.
On the "B" squad, David Harrigan was also 32nd with a 166 (+22, 83-83), Bryson Paris was 40th with a +25 (169, 82-87), Antonio Montenora finished 45th with a +27 (171, 79-92), His round of 79 was one of the six rounds that the Pioneers had in the 70s for the opening tournament. Tripp Darwin was 46th with a 176 (+32, 88-88) and Owen Jackson was 52nd with a 193 (+49, 100-93).
