
SMC Men's Golf Begins Play at Sherman B. Smith Memorial
Hartwell, Georgia – The Spartanburg Methodist College men's golf team shot a team score of 309 in Monday's opening round at the Sherman B. Smith Memorial at the Cateechee Golf Club in Hartwell, Georgia.
The 12-team field is filled across the various levels of intercollegiate golf.
Through 18 holes, the Pioneers are in ninh among the 18 teams that includes institutions, who are fielding multiple squads. Frost delayed the start of play and the field was set to play 27 holes on Monday and 27 more on Tuesday.
SMC is led by the play of Lane Carr and AJ Bolin, who each shot a round of 74 (+2). Carr led the team with four birdies in his first 18 holes. Carr and Bolin are in a tie for 11th with seven others. Matthew McDougall of Lenoir Rhyne leads the individual race with a 70 (-2).
Also for the Pioneers, Bryson Paris and Andrew Walker posted scores of 81 (+9) and Tripp Darwin wrapped up the lineup with an 86 (+14).
