SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The 2025 Spartanburg Methodist College softball season came to an end with an 11-2 loss to Brewton-Parker on Tuesday afternoon. Rainy conditions prevented the teams from playing the second game of the doubleheader.
Gracie Starnes and Emma Kennington each recorded two hits for the Pioneers in the defeat. A two-run home run by Adriana Stump-Frias tied the game at 2 in the third inning, but the visiting Barons scored the next nine runs on their way to the win.
Morgan Willingham went 4-for-4 with four RBIs to lead a Brewton-Parker offense that tallied 18 hits. Four Baron pitchers combined to limit SMC to seven hits in the game.
The loss ends the season for SMC, which finishes its first year of NAIA play with a 23-17 record.
