SMC Softball Extends Winning Streak to Three with Shutout Win
Two hits and a RBI for Emma Kennington and a combined shutout by pitchers Kyla Quiles and Bailey Kiser proved to be the right combination for a third-straight win for the Spartanburg Methodist College softball team, who blanked Wilson College (NCAA Division III), 5-0 on Monday morning.
Spartanburg Methodist College (9-6) broke a scoreless tie in the third inning, plating four runs on four hits that included RBI singles by Gracie Singles and Alex Stuckey. The Pioneers also plated a pair on wild pitches by members of the Wilson College pitching staff.
With a four-run lead, SMC added an insurance run on the RBI single by Kennington in the fourth.
Wilson stranded a pair of base runners each in the second, fourth and seventh inning.
The Spring Break trip to North Myrtle Beach continues with a pair of games on Tuesday when they will face Cedar Crest College at 11 a.m. and Rosemont College at 1 p.m.
