20th ranked Lady Pioneers fall on the road

Wilmington, NC- The 20th ranked Lady Pioneers (4-1) traveled to Wilmington, NC and to face 15th ranked Cape Fear Community College.

Cape Fear scored in the 13th minute to take a 1-0 lead.  The Lady Pioneers fought back and equalized the match 1-1 at the 24th minute on a goal by Kayla Walker (Lexington, SC) assisted by Lexi Garcia (Greenville, SC). SMC quckly struck again one minute later and took the lead on a goal by Katlin Robins (Gilbert, SC) assisted by Hope Smith (Woodruff, SC).  Cape Fear scored two late goals in the first half to take a 3-2 half time lead.  The Lady Pioneers had chances to equalize but we're not able to capitalize and Cape Fear extended the lead scoring twice more in the second half for a 5-2 victory.  

SMC is back in action Saturday when they host Wake Tech CC at 4:00pm
