
Spartanburg Methodist Begins Play at NJCAA National Championship
HOBBS, N.M. – The Spartanburg Methodist men's golf team is tied for 22nd after an opening round of 315 (+31) at the NJCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship at Rockwind Community Links on Tuesday.
The Pioneers carded eight birdies in the first of four rounds of action with Wyatt Harrill posting a team-best four on his way to a round of 75 (+4) to lead SMC.
Host New Mexico JC leads the field with a 280 (-4) for a four-stroke lead with the Thunderbirds' Matt Walters and Kendall McCain of Eastern Arizona College holding a share of the individual lead with a 67 (-4).
Also, for the Pioneers, AJ Bolin and Parker Harrigan each shot a 79 (+8), Elijah Todd posted an 82 (+11) and Bryson Paris recorded an 87 (+16)
SMC will return to the course for the second round on Wednesday with a 7:30 a.m. (MT)/9:30 a.m. (EST) tee time.
