Women's Soccer Wins 4-3 Against Polk State
The Lady Pioneers had a big win at home against a very good Polk County CC team from Florida improving their overall record to 4-2. Polk County came out strong and scored in the17th minute and again in the 40th minute to take a 2-0 half time lead. The Lady Pioneers regrouped and came out strong the second half scoring the next four goals. The scoring started when sophomore forward Elizabeth McGee scored on a penalty kick in the 48th minute. In the 57th minute freshman midfielder Evelyn Frierson put across in from the right side to the top of the 18 yard box where sophomore midfielder Morgan Vega let the ball go through to sophomore defensive midfielder Dani Morris who hit a one time shot over the keeper. SMC third goal of the game came when Elizabeth McGee took the ball down the left side and whipped a cross in where freshman midfielder Heather Turner ran onto it and headed back into the side netting. SMC's fourth goal came when sophomore forward Brionna Mack layed a ball off to Morgan Vega who ripped a shot upper 90's from outside the 18 yard box in the 78th minute. Polk scored with 35 seconds left to make the final score 4-3.
