Priest Leads the Pioneers against #10 Florida Southwestern
Fort Myers, FL - The Pioneer men's basketball team kicked off the 2018-19 season taking on the number 10 ranked, Buccaneers of Florida Southwestern. While the weather was beautiful and the beaches surrounded, SMC was there to compete and come home with a win over a ranked opponent. After exchanging baskets for majority of the first half, sophomore, Jared Richardson knocked down two free-throws to give Spartanburg a one point lead at the half. In an intense battle of runs in the second half, the Pioneers found themselves tied up 60-60 with 10.2 seconds left without the ball. Unfortunately, FSW inbounded the ball and sank a three-pointer as time expired leaving SMC on the short end of what was a fantastic game to start the season.
Pioneers were led in scoring by Sophomores Miguel Priest and Kris White who scored 16 and 15, respectively. Priest also added 11 rebounds, which is the first double-double recorded by a Pioneer since the 2016-17 season.

Pioneers were again, led by Miguel Priest, who recorded his second consecutive double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore guard, Tracus Chisholm also added 19 points.
